The Department of Family and Community Medicine is recognized nationally for excellence in patient care, teaching and research. The department is dedicated to providing primary care for the citizens of Iowa, educating medical students, training resident physicians, providing continuing education, and creating new knowledge to improve primary care and health care delivery systems.

Faculty Development Fellowship: Medical Education

This Medical Education Faculty Development Fellowship in Family Medicine is among the first in the United States to offer a Masters in Medical Education (MME) degree as well as supported clinical and classroom teaching experience and further development of family medicine clinical expertise.

Geriatric Medicine Fellowship

The University of Iowa Geriatric Fellowship Program focuses on the care of older adults in the UI Geriatrics Assessment Clinic, area long term care facilities, UI inpatient units, a nearby VA Medical Center, and patients' homes.

Clinical Informatics Fellowship Program

Clinical informatics is the subspecialty of all medical specialties that transforms health care by analyzing, designing, implementing, and evaluating information and communication systems to improve patient care, enhance access to care, advance individual and population health outcomes, and strengthen the clinician-patient relationship.

Faculty Development Fellowship: Research

The goal of the University of Iowa Department of Family and Community Medicine Research Fellowship is to develop high-quality research skills in family physicians so that they can develop and create research projects that align with interests of family medicine physicians. If interested, feel free to contact Jeanette Daly with questions at jeanette-daly@uiowa.edu. Sports Medicine Fellowship

The Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Iowa is a one year program focused on non-surgical orthopedics and the care of athletes of all ages and abilities. As a Fellow in the program you will help care for the division one athletes at the University of Iowa. In addition, each Fellow will cover a local high school and work in our state of the art multidisciplinary sports medicine center.
