The University of Iowa Department of Family and Community Medicine is recruiting for an onsite full-time faculty position in the Office of Consultation and Research in Medical Education. Appointment rank may be at the Associate or Full Professor rank and to either the clinical or tenure track consistent with clinical experience and research interest.
The Office of Consultation and Research in Medical Education (OCRME) and the Carver College of Medicine is recruiting for an onsite full-time faculty position which includes faculty responsibilities within OCRME’s Master in Medical Education (MME) program. In particular, this individual will be a strong teacher who provides expertise in teaching methods, clinical teaching, mentoring, and faculty development. This individual will be responsible for teaching graduate level courses (including Clinical Teaching and Teaching Methods) and overseeing OCRME’s faculty development programs. The successful candidate would primarily provide service to OCRME with additional service to the College and the hiring department on request.
This faculty member will join a team of educators in the Master in Medical Education program in the Office of Consultation and Research in Medical Education, located in Iowa City, Iowa. OCRME has been an integral part of the Carver College of Medicine’s educational program for more than 40 years. OCRME faculty and staff provide expertise, leadership, and mentoring in educational scholarship and innovation. In addition to teaching courses and advising students enrolled in certificate and advanced degree programs, OCRME faculty also provide consultation and advice to the college’s faculty, staff, and educational leadership. OCRME faculty and staff are national and international leaders in healthcare education, present at national and international forums, publish in educational and scientific journals, and take on senior positions in professional organizations.
The successful candidate will have an area of expertise that complements current faculty members’ interests in assessment, evaluation, simulation, communication, and interprofessional education. This position will also collaborate closely with staff and faculty colleagues in instructional technology, instructional design, and curriculum development across the Carver College of Medicine.
Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.
